The Day it Rained Hearts
by Felicia Bond

reviewed by
Cosy Grainger

Valentine's Day is coming, and one day, Cornelia Augusta discovers that it's raining hearts. They are all different, these hearts, and she soon discovers that they pair up nicely with her quartet of best friends.

Cornelia carefully makes valentines for each of her friends, each just as different as the hearts she found for them. What's better than handmade valentines? Perhaps the wonderful illustrations which accompany this story. Bond is both the writer and the artist. She also illustrated If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (a personal favorite).

This book was originally published as Four Valentines in a Rainstorm, but Harper Colllins has brought it back under this new title. I suggest you pick up a copy and share it with your little valentine. The book imparts the importance of creativity and sharing, and how you can make someone else happy in very unexpected ways.
