It Had to be You by Linda Windsor
Contemporary romance/inspirational (2001)
reviewed by Anna C. Bowling

If ever an inspirational romance would make a perfect Meg Ryan movie, this would be the one. Linda Windsor uses real-life travel mishaps to enhance the shipboard romance of ER nurse Sunny Elders and rancher Dan Jarrett, two people with wildly different agendas and outlooks on life.

Sunny is trying to heal herself after seeing her parents through the last days of their illnesses, while Dan is out to expose his mother's new husband as a cruise ship lothario. Add both Sunny's and Dan's families and a Thanksgiving spent sailing the Caribbean to the mix and stir.

Sunny's life seems out of order, especially when it comes to chaperoning her niece and nephew, and Dan feels like he's the only one able to save his mother from ruin in her new marriage.

Both Sunny and Dan learn to depend on God, and though reluctantly, on each other. From dropped juice boxes, mixed-up luggage, and the horse ride from hell, to the very serious matter of a health crisis at sea, Linda Windsor takes readers on a trip that will be much enjoyed and long remembered.

Light without being fluffy, and inspirational but not preachy, It Had To Be You is the perfect read for those who are on vacation, or just wish they were.
